Youth Building a Sibling Network in Tanzania

Meet Jerry and Abdul-Aziz

Jerry and Abdul-Aziz are hosting several inclusive sibling group sporting events, as well as creating a documentary to highlight the process of carrying out their events. They aim to address the lack of representation of youth with intellectual disabilities in the film industry. On 9 December, 2022 Special Olympics Tanzania will screen their documentary on Tanzania’s Independence Day. Additionally, the Unified pair is currently planning online and in-person sibling workshops that they will execute by the end of summer.

Through the Special Olympics Youth Innovation Initiative Scaling for Impact Project, Youth Leaders have a platform for engaging other young people at the grassroots level. Youth have demonstrated high levels of innovation and commitment with designing, developing and implementing projects — some of which have become examples for other young people to model after.
